ASUS ExpertBook P Series Now Available in Malaysia, Offering Enterprise-Grade AI Business Laptops for All

Business laptops don’t always get the attention they deserve. They’re often associated with conservative designs, office spreadsheets and machines built more for IT departments than actual people. The new ASUS ExpertBook P Series, however, makes a pretty strong case for changing that perception.

Now available in Malaysia, the lineup includes the ExpertBook P3 G1, P5 G1 and PM5 G2, bringing enterprise-inspired durability, AI capabilities, upgradeability and productivity features to students, professionals and everyday users. And after looking at what ASUS is offering, I think this is one of the more interesting ExpertBook lineups we’ve seen because a modern laptop isn’t just an office machine anymore. It’s a study companion, meeting room, creative workstation, coding machine and, increasingly, an AI-powered productivity tool.

The Business Laptop Gets a Serious AI Upgrade. AI is obviously one of the biggest talking points here, but what I like is that ASUS isn’t treating AI as just another marketing checkbox. The lineup includes two AI PCs and one Copilot+ PC, with each model taking a slightly different approach to performance. The ExpertBook PM5 G2 is the obvious powerhouse. It features an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX processor with up to 55 NPU TOPS, giving it plenty of on-device AI performance for demanding workloads. For creators, professionals working with AI applications or anyone who simply wants plenty of headroom for future workloads, this is easily the model that catches my attention.

The ExpertBook P5 G1, meanwhile, feels like the sweet spot. Its Intel Core Ultra 7 processor provides strong performance for productivity, while its lightweight design makes it much easier to live with on a daily basis. Then there’s the P3 G1, which takes a more straightforward approach. It also features an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor and focuses on delivering dependable performance for everyday work and study. I like this strategy. Instead of forcing everyone into the same high-end configuration, ASUS has created a lineup where users can choose the level of performance that actually makes sense for them.

One feature that deserves more attention is ASUS AI ExpertMeet. We’ve all experienced the post-meeting scramble: “What did we actually discuss?” or “Who was supposed to send the notes?”
AI ExpertMeet is designed to make that process much easier with AI Meeting Minutes, which can capture and organize important discussion points, and AI Translated Subtitles, which provide real-time multilingual translation. What makes this particularly appealing is the focus on on-device AI processing. For professionals handling confidential meetings, keeping meeting data on the PC can provide an additional layer of reassurance. It also means the AI features aren’t just there to look impressive in a specification sheet, they can genuinely help reduce the amount of repetitive work that comes with meetings.

Here’s where the ExpertBook P Series really starts to feel like a business laptop in the best possible way. ASUS says the laptops have undergone military-grade durability testing, while their reinforced I/O ports are tested to withstand up to 9kg of physical force. It might not sound as exciting as an OLED display or an AI processor, but I think this is exactly the kind of engineering that matters in the long run.

Ports are easy to take for granted until one stops working. And because ports can be integrated with the motherboard, a small physical failure can potentially become a much bigger repair. So, while AI gets the headlines, features like reinforced ports and durability testing are the things that can make a laptop feel like a better investment over several years. For students carrying their laptops around campus or professionals constantly moving between meetings, that’s a genuine advantage.

16:10 Displays Are a Welcome Upgrade. All three models are available in 14-inch and 16-inch configurations, giving users the choice between portability and a larger workspace. More importantly, ASUS has gone with a 16:10 aspect ratio. This is one of those changes that sounds minor until you use it. The extra vertical space is genuinely useful when working with documents, spreadsheets, websites and code. You can see more content at once, which means less scrolling and a more comfortable workflow. As someone who spends far too much time staring at browser tabs and documents, I’m a big fan of 16:10 displays. Once you get used to the extra space, traditional 16:9 laptop screens can suddenly feel a little cramped.

If I had to choose one model from the lineup for most users, the ExpertBook P5 G1 would probably be my pick. It comes with an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, 32GB DDR5 RAM and a 512GB SSD as standard, which is already a very capable configuration. But ASUS doesn’t stop there. The laptop supports up to 96GB of DDR5 RAM and dual SSD storage of up to 6TB. That’s a lot of upgrade potential, especially for a laptop aimed at professionals and students who may want to keep the machine for several years. Then there’s the 16:10 FHD OLED display, with a refresh rate of up to 60Hz. The OLED panel should make everything from documents and presentations to media consumption look more vibrant, while the lightweight chassis starts at just 1.29kg. That combination is what makes the P5 G1 particularly appealing to me. It has the practicality of a business laptop without feeling like something that belongs permanently on an office desk.

If the P5 G1 is the balanced choice, the ExpertBook PM5 G2 is the one I’d recommend to users who want to push performance further. Its AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX processor with up to 55 NPU TOPS gives it the highest AI performance potential in the lineup. The standard configuration includes 32GB RAM and a 1TB SSD, while users can upgrade to 96GB RAM and up to 3TB of dual SSD storage. It also gets an OLED display, making the PM5 G2 an appealing combination of performance and visual quality.

At this point, it feels less like a conventional business laptop and more like a compact workstation wearing a business-laptop disguise. And I mean that as a compliment.

Then there’s the ExpertBook P3 G1. It may not have the headline-grabbing specifications of the PM5 G2, but that’s exactly why I think it could appeal to a much wider audience. With an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, it’s designed for users who need reliable performance for everyday productivity rather than maximum AI horsepower. For students, office workers and professionals spending most of their time in documents, presentations, browsers, meetings and productivity applications, the P3 G1 looks like a sensible and dependable option. Not everyone needs a laptop with workstation-level specifications. Sometimes, the best laptop is simply the one that gets everything done without making a fuss.
