REDMI Note 17 Series Is Officially Here — Meet Xiaomi’s Newest Phones & Wearables

Let’s be honest, most of us don’t want a phone that looks impressive on paper but leaves us hunting for a charger by dinner. That’s clearly something Xiaomi is trying to fix with the new REDMI Note 17 Series, which has officially landed in Malaysia. The lineup is pretty straightforward, REDMI Note 17, REDMI Note 17 5G, REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G and the new REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G.

But if there’s one model that immediately grabs attention, it’s the Pro Max.
Why? 10,000mAh.

Yep, Xiaomi has squeezed a massive 10,000mAh battery into the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G, its biggest smartphone battery yet. And it’s not just about capacity. You also get 100W HyperCharge and 27W reverse charging. So on paper, at least, this is very much a “charge it and forget about it” kind of phone.

Battery aside, Xiaomi is also making durability a big part of the Note 17 story.
The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G and Note 17 Pro 5G are the first in the industry to receive TÜV SÜD 5-star Titan Quality Certification across all three dimensions covered by the certification. They also come with some serious water and dust protection, with ratings covering IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K, along with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. In other words, Xiaomi isn’t treating these phones like fragile pieces of glass that need to be handled with kid gloves.

The Pro Max runs on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, while the Pro 5G gets the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4. And if you don’t need the Pro models, the regular Note 17 and Note 17 5G still come with a chunky 7,700mAh battery, 45W charging, IP65 protection and Gorilla Glass 7i. Honestly, that’s still a pretty generous battery for a “regular” model.

Of course, Xiaomi couldn’t launch a new phone lineup without bringing along a few accessories. The REDMI Watch 6 Active comes with a 1.85-inch AMOLED display, up to 1,200 nits brightness and an Always-on Display. It’s also just 26g, so it shouldn’t feel like you’ve strapped a mini computer to your wrist. For fitness tracking, you’ve got more than 140 sports modes, plus heart rate, blood oxygen, stress, sleep and women’s health monitoring. There’s also Bluetooth calling and IP68 protection. The best part? Xiaomi claims up to 18 days of battery life under light usage. That’s the kind of smartwatch battery life I can get behind.

Then there’s the REDMI Watch 6 Lite, which steps things up with a bigger 1.96-inch AMOLED display and up to 1,500 nits brightness. This one is also aimed more at people who actually exercise outdoors. It has built-in five-system GNSS, so you can track your routes without bringing your phone along. Swimmers also get more detailed tracking, including stroke recognition, underwater heart-rate changes and SWOLF efficiency. There’s also 5ATM water resistance. And yes, Xiaomi is once again quoting up to 18 days of battery life under light usage.

Last but not least, the REDMI Headphones Neo are getting a new Mist Blue colour. These are Xiaomi’s first REDMI headphones launched in Malaysia, and they come with 42dB Active Noise Cancellation, adaptive noise reduction and a triple-mic AI system for calls. There’s also Hi-Res certification for those who care about audio quality. Nothing revolutionary here, but the new colour definitely gives the headphones a bit more personality.

So, When Can You Get Them? The REDMI Note 17 Series officially goes on open sale from 5 September to 30 September 2026, with prices starting from just RM749. Looking at the lineup, Xiaomi seems to be going after something pretty simple with the REDMI Note 17 Series: make the phone last longer, make it harder to damage, and make charging less of a daily headache.
