Sony Xperia 10 VIII Spotted in an Official-Looking Leaked Image

Sony’s Xperia 10 series has always had its own personality, and honestly, that’s part of the charm. But if this latest leak is anything to go by, the upcoming Xperia 10 VIII may be a case of “if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.” A leaked image shared by Android Headlines gives us what could be our first proper look at the phone. And at first glance, it looks remarkably familiar.

The rear appears to feature a dual-camera setup sitting inside a horizontal camera module, complete with the Sony logo. Flip over to the right side and you’ll find the familiar volume rocker and power button. The power button could once again double as a fingerprint scanner.

So far, so Xperia.

One question that immediately comes to mind is the dedicated camera shutter button. The Xperia 10 VII included one, but this leaked image doesn’t give us enough of a look to confirm whether Sony is keeping it. The USB-C port and 3.5mm headphone jack are also out of sight, although there’s a good chance they’re still sitting along the bottom edge. Unfortunately, Sony isn’t giving us the full picture just yet. The front of the phone remains completely hidden in the leak, leaving us wondering whether the display will receive any meaningful upgrades.

For reference, the Xperia 10 VII came with a 6.1-inch Full HD+ OLED display, a 120Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass Victus 2. If Sony sticks with a similar setup, some fans might be disappointed but others may appreciate the consistency. Under the hood, things are looking even more familiar.

A recent Geekbench listing suggests the Xperia 10 VIII will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, the same chipset found in the Xperia 10 VII. The listing also points to 8GB of RAM and Android 16. That doesn’t exactly scream “major upgrade.” We’re still waiting for confirmation on the important details, including storage options, battery capacity and camera specifications. And those could ultimately determine whether the Xperia 10 VIII feels like a worthwhile successor or simply a refreshed version of last year’s phone.

Thankfully, we won’t have to wait much longer. Sony is expected to officially unveil the Xperia 10 VIII on 25 August 2026 at 11AM Japan time, or 10AM in Malaysia. For now, my first impression is simple. Sony appears to be playing it safe. The design looks familiar, the processor may be unchanged, and many of the key specifications remain a mystery. But sometimes, the details Sony hasn’t revealed yet are the ones that matter most. Tomorrow, we should finally find out whether the Xperia 10 VIII is a genuine upgrade or just the Xperia 10 VII wearing a slightly newer suit.
