A set of newly leaked photos posted on Weibo by South Korean leaker Lanzuk (and reported by PhoneArena) has practically confirmed that Apple is preparing a major battery upgrade for its top-tier flagship.
The Leaked Numbers: A Bigger Leap for the Pro Max
According to the leaked component images, the iPhone 18 Pro Max will see a noticeable bump in capacity across both regional variants:
- iPhone 18 Pro Max (Global / Physical SIM): Climbs to 5,391 mAh, a 12% upgrade over its predecessor.
- iPhone 18 Pro Max (US / eSIM-only): Jumps to 5,567 mAh, a 9% increase compared to the 5,088 mAh inside the iPhone 17 Pro Max.




The standard iPhone 18 Pro gets a more modest boost, pushing its global variant to 4,056 mAh and the US eSIM version to 4,288 mAh (up from 4,252 mAh).
Why Does Apple Finally Need a 5,500+ mAh Battery?
Putting a larger battery into a flagship phone isn’t just about longer screen-on times; it’s often a necessity for driving high-drain hardware:
