Nothing Headphone (a): Stylish, Powerful, and Built to Last!

Okay, let’s talk about headphones, but not the boring kind.

The Nothing Headphone (a) is the second audio powerhouse from the brand, and honestly, it’s giving pure main character energy. With its bold color palette, “immortal” battery life, and clever features, it’s clear this isn’t just about aesthetics. This pair has the sonic muscle to back up the hype.

Sound Quality: Not Just Looks

The Headphone (a) has exactly what it takes to dominate the mid-range market. Under the hood, it packs 40mm titanium-coated dynamic drivers supporting Hi-Res Audio Wireless via LDAC, AAC, and SBC codecs.

The result? A crisp, surgical soundstage. The bass is rich and visceral without bleeding into the mids. When I want more oomph, I can open the Nothing X app and let the AI algorithms to enhance the low-end frequencies in real-time based on what I’m spinning.

As for the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), it silences up to 40dB of chaos. It’s smart and adaptive ANC too, using dual mics and AI assist to analyze the seal around my ears vs my environment. It’s easily one of the most natural-sounding ANC experiences I’ve tested; no that vacuum feeling, just peace.

Battery Life : Kinda Ridiculous

Let’s cut to the chase: the endurance here is insane. It’s almost too good for headphones with such sound quality to be this powerful.

  • ANC On: Up to 75 hours of playback.
  • ANC Off: A staggering 135 hours!

I haven’t been able to finish a movie marathon long enough to kill these. After two weeks of normal use (2-3 hours a day), I’m still sitting at 50%. Nothing also claims a 5-minute charge nets 5 hours of juice. I haven’t even been able to verify that because I simply haven’t needed to plug them in yet.

The Look : FUN

We’re in an era where tech manufacturers are finally stopped playing it safe. Basic black and grey are no longer the standard. Apple gives 5 vibrant colors to its AirPods Max and they are all look really good. While Nothing offers the safe Black and White, they’ve also dropped vibrant Pink and Yellow variants.

Even if I’m not usually a fan of loud colors, these hit differently. They are playful, fashion-forward, and distinctly Nothing. My review unit is White, but after seeing the Yellow pair used by one of the staff at the launch event, deep inside I hope I do get the Yellow or Pink review unit. I think if I were to buy one myself, those will be the color I choose. I am now ready to get fancy.

Is there anything else? Yes!

There are more than just good sound quality and looks in Headphone (a). There are other useful features as well that I like. The first is the comfortability. It has soft memory foam cushions that ensure no ear pain after long session and it’s pretty lightweight at just 310g. I have no problem using it continuously for 2-3 hours.

Second is it has support for IP52 rating, which means sweat, dust, and light rain aren’t big deal to Headphone (a). So with it, I no longer have the anxiety when I over-do my gym sessions and sweat a lot.

And third one I like is I can use the button as a remote to snap photos or start videos. This feature is so convenient and perfect when I solo travel or creating content alone by myself. Oh have I mentioned I like the button a lot? Everything, the rollers, paddle and button are tactile, and way more reliable. They are simple, satisfying and get the jobs done.

The Conclusion : Go For It

If you want headphones that sound elite and look iconic on your head, because let’s be real, that matters, and the Nothing Headphone (a) is an easy recommendation. I own a Nothing Phone (1) and the AirPods Max (USB-C), but for now? They’re both staying in the drawer. I don’t think I’m going to miss them.
